. president obama has been very care wfl the u.s. involvement in syria but jordan is of course the country dealing with the syrian refugee crisis. more than 450,000 syrians have fled to jordan so far. what do you expect to come out of tomorrow's meeting with king abdullah? >> well, king abdullah is a key player in the middle east. jordan has always been helpful to middle east peace process. i think again, a reinforcement of an already strong relationship, countries like jordan help with the syrian issue on refugees. you have to keep jordan involved because they can be very constructive. again, their relationship is good. but being in the region, not going to jordan, especially with the syrian situation exploding, is not a good sign. so the president has covered his bases. he's been to the palestinian authority. a very strong trip and israel's symbolism, personal connection with bibi, laying out new policy. and then with the king of jordan, going more into regional issues like syria and iran makes a lot of sense. >> thanks to both of you. >> back here in washington, the house of representat

part of its calculation, defunding broadly, president obama's health care law. which i think, i think we probably can agree, is not likely to happen. if both sides are offering budget proposals that are nonviable. how do we get to a budget proposal that is viable, do you expect that to happen? >> well, i think it's important for our country that we do. and the thing that's, that i think is so important about paul ryan's budget is that it actually becomes a balanced situation. where you have a balanced budget. the democrat proposal -- never balances, not this year, not in ten years. never. and american families realize they have to live within their means, they can't spend money they don't have. they understand the concept of a balanced budget and i was back in wyoming last weekend, the people at home still believe that over half of all the money they send to washington is wasted. so the concerns are that these budgets that we see specifically the democrats' budget, it's more, it's inefficient, it's ineffective, unaccountable to the american people. >> senator, i want to talk to you, p

that we did not have a budget resolution. we had president obama sign the law that took care of our budget problems here. but we want to satisfy the republicans, and we want to get to that budget today. i talked about here this morning what a terrific job chairman murray has done on this bill. and she has. it's been really outstanding. but the budget is here by virtue of a law that was passed. there are 50 hours permitted for debate on the budget and then we can have a lot of amendments after all debate time is over. so the republicans said let's do the budget debate, and we say let us do it. why should we sit around here and look at each other and do nothing? my friend, the chairman of the -- i'm sorry, the ranking member of the budget committee, the junior senator from alabama, said let's do it after easter. madam president, we're going to do this. we are going to do this before we go home for easter. if they want to use the whole 60 hours, we'll start the debate on the budget sometime thursday morning. and we'll have 50 hours and a lot of votes. if that's what they want to do, we
